As an artist I am often sight inspired to paint. I see something or someone and think, "that would make a great painting".
Mrs. Lawson sits two pews behind me at New Friendship Baptist Church. I always speak to her and she always has kind words and a beautiful smile for me and everyone else. Several months ago I asked if I could take some pictures of her to use for a painting and when finished I presented it to her.
Mrs. Lawson was born August 23, 1919 and has been a member of New Friendship Baptist Church for 66 years. Her love of travel saw her crossing the United States to all fifty states with her husband, George, and later with children and grandchildren after his death. She also toured seven countries with family and known as babysitter extraordinaire of six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. I also heard she is a great cook of the world's best chocolate chip cookies and party mix.
